Also. I have a question for anyone reading this. It came up in conversation with a friend of mine, and she called me an "indie snob" for it. So I thought I'd ask my watchers' opinion.
Does the fact I don't care for mainstream anime make me such a snob? Really? I know a lot of people who are like that, and for the life of me I just can't get into things that are fan arted all to hell to the point I just can't enjoy it properly. I haven't seen the movie Avatar or HTTYD mostly because the fan art is EVERYWHERE and it really just negated my desire to see them. I still plan to, but it's just like mehhhhh now. I don't think I'm any better than anyone else, or that I'm too good for mainstream. In fact, I like a lot of things that are mainstream. Star Wars is one. Star Trek, a lot of rock bands that are mainstream, etc. It's not because I feel like I'm better than anyone. I just can't get into it the same way everyone else does.

Commishes and trades are in the works, guys. Be patient.

Aaaand I find continuous fan art to be mostly lack of originality, and in a way I look at all those "I can't live after seeing Pandora" people with a bit of laugh in my mind. Goddamn, it is beautiful, but there is so much more in our own world if you just go out of your damn home to the nearest mountain... Plus the film contains around 40 or so species overall. I'd say Earth has around a billion more... Sorry for getting into avatar fandom hate. Just expressing my thoughts on Fandom, derived from fan, derived from fanatic...
As for Avatar fandoms. Lol. You have a good point. People get all buzzed over the fantastic creatures they designed, and really, they were amazing. I've not seen it yet, but I've seen the creatures, and I love them. But by the same token, things like Lord of the Rings and Eragon had some very good creature designs, and you don't see a ton of fan art of those every single day. I swear if I see another Na'vi I'm going to scream. e.e Blue cat people are not original.

How to make a blockbuster recipe:
1. Take an old idea that most people have forgotten (Brave heart, Pocahontas)
2. Add some great special effects (and that's the sole reason I went to watch this movie, nothing more, nothing less)
3. Add a male and female character that fall in love. (really, I don't think there's a movie that has a guy and a girl that don't fall in love by the end of it, is there?)
4. Have the guy and girl have sex
5. Add epic battle
And you're done
P.S. I am so proud that there's a Bulgarian movie that smashed the Avatar watcher numbers in my country to the ground. A comedy called "Mission London", not sure if you can find it, but still.
Lol xD That's sadly all too true.
Hmm, I'll have to look it up sometime. It sounds familiar, but I'm not sure.
ANYWAY! My point is (assuming I have one) Mainstream and Not Mainstream doesn't change the quality of the anime. It is a funny irony that most mainstream anime tends to royally suck, and the stuff few people know about is generally pretty good. Overall, like what you like, don't like what you don't want to, and kick that bitch in the twat that called you an indie-snob.
And I -would- ask for a commish, but I has no munnies, although I could pay you back in art. And lovens.
But yes, I agree. The few animes I do like are far from mainstream, and you have to do a search just to find fanart of them. xD (I did it earlier, I lol'd.)
You like what you like. It's really just that simple. It doesn't make you a snob or anything.
God people get so caught up in the whole mainstream vs. non-mainstream thing. e__e Why can't people just like whatever the hell they want to without being labeled for it?
I'd personally love it if I could just like what I like and not like other things for my own reasons without a label.
